A new marker for gastrointestinal cancers diagnosis.
Cadherin 17 is a non-conventional cadherins and is also referred to as LI-cadherin or CDH17. It is involved in tumor invasion and metastasis. It is localized in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells and in the cytoplasmic membrane of intestinal epithelium.
In several publications, cadherin 17 has been shown to be a new marker for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal tract adenocarcinoma (GI tract), and pancreas.
